This division of a major engineering consulting firm had to consolidate its six locations into two; the project presented here is the first phase which includes more of the administrative portion while the second – of equal surface area and more technical (laboratories) is currently being designed. This consolidation effort is an opportunity to initiate a transformation of the increasingly collaborative technical work environment.

The De la Savane phase brings together close to a hundred technical, administrative, and executive employees in a huge open-plan area. From the beginning of the project, we worked with the client and the building owner to raise the ceiling, which was still under construction, to increase the amount of natural light. The space already included a small mezzanine which we converted into a few diversified and friendly collaborative spaces. This area includes natural elements with the integration of plant containers and images of some Quebec landscapes.

A small laboratory has been designed to optimize the technicians’ workspaces and to improve operational efficiency. With a large portion of the team working on construction sites, the addition of showers near the entrance was considered an essential service for the employees.
